Please find summarized some information on valid travel documents issued by the Italian Government required for entering Bosnia and Herzegovina and accepted by the Border Control Authorities.

Only the following Italian travel documents are valid for Bosnia and Herzegovina:
- Ordinary passport, issued by the Italian Police Headquarters from 0 years of age. Minors up to 15 years can be registered on the Parent’s Passport but the photo has to be applied only on the mentioned document, that will be considered valid until its expiration date;
- Collective Passport, issued by the Italian Police Headquarters from 0 years of age, for groups of minimum 5 persons;
- National I.D. Card (Electronic or Hard Copy) valid for traveling abroad issued by City Town Halls to citizens from 0 years of age (from 14 May 2011);
- National I.D. Card (Electronic or Hard copy) already issued by city municipality’s for minors up to 15 years of age, even with a renewal stamp, but only if applied on the document and not on any other renewal papers enclosed;
- Minors up to 18 years of age, including those older than 14, who do not posses a valid document (I.D. Card or Passport) indicating the name of their parents or traveling with one parent, or alone, have to be in posses of:
o a valid document of identification;
o a written declaration that testifies the assent of the parent/s or foster parent/s and that certifies the right of custody of the person with whom the minor is traveling;
o a copy of the Birth Certificate of the minor in order to verify the name of the parents;
No other documents are considered valid in Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as:
- AT/BT card;
- Birth certificate with picture (issued by Italian Police Headquarters to minors being less than 15 years old);
Due to the high number of thefts against tourists in the country, particularly in Medjugorje, it is strongly recommended to pay attention to personal belongings and to always be in posses of a copy of a valid travel document during the stay, keeping the originals in a safe place.
