Introducing individual passports to minors
25/11/2009
-
This is to inform that in accordance with changes made to the regulations on passports that entered into force on 25.11.2009 it will not be possible to register minors in the parents’ passports, or guardians’, or other delegated persons.
The new regulations, requested at European Community level to guarantee major individuality and therefore security of minors, foresee that all minors must hold an individual passport, whose temporary validity is different based on age (3 years for minors from zero to three years old, 5 years for minors between three and eighteen years old) thus enabling the up-dating of the photographs of the holder.
The cost of the passport for minors remains unaltered.
The Embassy reiterates that the issuances made before 25.11.2009 remain valid up to the expiry date of the passport.
