SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION

In March 2006, on the occasion of the visit of Education, University and Research Minister Mrs Letizia Moratti, a Memorandum of Understanding was initialled between the Minister and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (chaired by H.H. Sheikha Mozah Al Misnad, The Emir of Qatar's Wife) which fasten the Italo-Qatari cooperation in the sectors of scientific and technologic research and university cooperation.
Following this agreement, some projects have been started between Qatar Foundation and the Scientific and Technological Park in Qatar (QSTP) from one side, and Italian universities, research centers and scientific parks from the other. They focus particularly on medical and biomedical sector.  
The two partners will cooperate in the energy environment; aeronautical; health and biotechnology; telecommunications; media; and digital media. Other fields of cooperation can be added by mutual consent.

In May 2007, after the visit to Doha of the Italian Minister for Reforms and Innovation in the Public Administration, Prof. Luigi Nicolais, a fruitful cooperation has been started with ICTQatar, the Qatari Authority responsible for advanced technologies, in order to develop joint research programs in advanced technologies applied to public administration field.
This cooperation has been further developed after the visit to Rome in October 2008 of the Secretary General of ICTQatar, Dr. Hessa Al Jaber.
